Sleepy Owl Mask

I have yet to make this mask and I really want to. This is a good project if you have a lot of scrap yarn or half skeins lying around. If you'll notice, none of my patterns have yarn color choices because I like to give you the option of picking your own colors. Everything you make should be totally customizable. So once I post pictures of the things I make, be free!! You don't need to do these projects in the colors I choose. With that said, here's the pattern!

Roll-Up Pencil Case

I'm on a roll today with my posts! So in light of that, I'll post my favorite "roll" up pencil case. I did one of these for my daughter when she started 3rd grade this year and she loves it. It is super easy and you can make them for all the little ones in your family who are heading back to school.

Hook Size: G 4.50mm

CASE
Ch 26
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across - 25 sc
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, sc in each sc - 25 sc
Repeat Row 2 until piece measures 4 1/2" from beginning, end with a right side row.
Bottom Fold Row (wrong side) : ch 1, work sc in each st 2 rows below - 25 sc
Repeat Row 2 until piece measures 14" from beginning, end with a right side row.
Top Fold Row (wrong side) : Repeat Bottom Fold Row
Repeat Row 2 until piece measures 15 1/2" from beginning. Fasten off.
FINISHING
Fold top and bottom edges to wrong side along Fold Rows. Working through both layers, sc evenly along edges of each row to secure pockets.
With right side facing, slip stitch down center of pencil case, working through both layers to divide into two pockets.
TIES - Make 2
Ch 31
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each stitch across. Fasten off. Place ties 1" from top and bottom. Sew at center point.

Vintage Fingerless Gloves

Adapted from the Hopeful Honey blog.

Hello all! I was looking for a quick crochet project to do while waiting to get more yarn for a Christmas gift project. I had saved the link to the Hopeful Honey blog on my phone awhile ago, thinking to myself that I would get back to it at some point. Today was as good a day as any! Here is the pattern for the gloves.

Hook size: G (4.50mm)
Yarn: the pattern called for "8-ply yarn". I used Red Heart Super Saver in Glowworm.
Optional: 40cm (thin) ribbon

Make 2.
Ch (chain) 30, join with slip stitch. Be careful not to twist the chain.
Row 1: ch 2, half double crochet (hdc) in every stitch (st) around. Join with slip stitch (sl st) to 2nd ch of last st.
Rows 2-6: (See ~) Ch 2, hdc in every st around. Sl st to 2nd ch in last st.  ~: If you have larger hands, add more rows to make palm space longer. You can also add more chains in the beginning to make the palm space wider.
Row 7: Ch 2, hdc in next 9 sts. Make hole for thumb: ch 4, skip next 4 sts, hdc in remaining sts. Join with sl st to 2nd ch of last st.
Row 8-15: Ch 2, hdc in every st around. Join with sl st to 2nd ch of last st.
Row 16: Turn work to wrong side, ch 3, double crochet (dc) into 1st st. Sl st into next st, yarn over (YO), insert hook into next st, YO, pull back through st (3 loops on hook), YO, pull through 2 loops, YO, insert into same st, YO, pull loop back through st (4 loops), YO, pull through all loops, sl st in next st. Continue until you reach the end. Fasten off.
Optional: Weave thin, pretty ribbon through stitches near the bottom of the glove and tie in a pretty bow.

I hope you enjoyed making these ultra sweet gloves. They are so easy to make and super QUICK! They're perfect for warming your hands up but not getting too warm on these crazy fall days. If you have any questions, please let me know!!

Stars

I found this pattern online and tweaked the pattern just slightly so I could decrease the size of the hole in the center of the star. Plus I love using adjustable magic rings for patterns. Maybe I'm just proud of myself for learning how to do them so efficiently. Haha! Anyway, enjoy!

Easy Crochet Star

Hook Size: G
Yarn: worsted acrylic yarn - the "crunchier" the yarn the better - think Red Heart Super Saver

Rnd 1:  Make a magic adjustable ring, 1 sc in ring to make a beginning knot, ch 3 (counts as 1st double crochet), 2 dc into ring, ch 5. *3 dc into ring, ch 5.* Repeat from * to * 3 times more, slip stitch into 3rd ch of beginning ch 3.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, *sc in same stitch. Skip next stitch, sc in next st. 3 sc in ch 5 space, ch 2, sc back into 3rd sc just made (this will make a picot point of star), sc 2 more into ch 5 space.* Repeat from * to * 3 more times. Join to 1st sc with slip stitch. Fasten. Weave in ends.

**You can make a cute garland with these stars for the holidays. Just chain a long chain of yarn and tie the stars intermittently across the chain. Leave about 12 inches on either end for tying to banisters or shelving. You can also starch them until they're stiff, iron them flat and put ornament hooks on them to hang them on your tree. They're very versatile in what you can do with them once you've made quite a few.
